(CNN)Just one year ago, Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman, the former virtually powerful and unsafe kingpin in the earth, was sentenced to life in prison, plus xxx years.
At present, as Guzman spends his days and nights alone in a pocket-sized 7x12 foot concrete prison cell in Colorado'south Supermax prison house, his lawyer says he'due south waiting for his ticket out of jail.

Life in prison house amongst a pandemic
While on trial, Guzman slammed his conditions at the Metropolitan Correction Center, a federal prison house in Manhattan where he was incarcerated before being transferred to Colorado.
"It's been torture, the most inhumane situation I accept lived in my entire life," he said. "It has been physical, emotional and mental torture."
Guzman's legal team had filed requests for amend prison conditions at the MCC, where he was kept in alone confinement 23 hours a day. His attorneys said that since he was brought to the US he has spent more than than 2 years without whatever access to fresh air or natural light, adding that he must sleep with the light on in his jail cell, conditions that attorneys say are "psychologically scarring."
Now, Guzman's lawyer has brought up like concerns regarding his confinement in Colorado -- just argues atmospheric condition are worse at that place, especially amongst the pandemic.

"Thousands of people died or were ordered killed because of the Sinaloa Dare. And then aye, he doesn't leave his cell. It is boring. Information technology's monotonous. It's a daily routine. It is very sorry simply hither's the divergence. He'south alive. And that means he could exercise plenty of things, unlike many of his victims."
'No chance at all of ever getting out'
Later on rendering the verdict, one of the 12 anonymous jurors reached out to journalist Keegan Hamilton from Vice News and alleged that many of those on the panel ignored the judge'south instructions to stay away from any news reports about the case and lied when asked if they had been exposed to certain information.
At the fourth dimension, Guzman's attorneys filed a motion seeking a new trial, but it was denied.
"I think the judge ruled correctly," Donovan said. "He reviewed the event and came upward with an honest decision in my stance. I really don't think there is a ground at that place."
